Kassento · Legal
Terms of Use
This English version is a convenience translation. Where legally permissible, the German version is authoritative.
1. Provider and scope
These terms apply to the Kassento mobile app, offered by Patrick Wagner under the Darkstone developer brand. Contact details and address are available in the Legal notice.
Mandatory terms of the store through which you obtained the app also apply. On iOS, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies unless a different agreement is provided in App Store Connect. Mandatory consumer rights prevail over these terms.
2. Service
Kassento assists with counting cash, calculating a cash-drawer close, comparing expected and actual balances, and storing results locally. Optional functions include target compositions and change-order planning, a local staff list, tip splits, versioned custom currency definitions, a manual aggregate terminal reconciliation, and a closing-receipt photo. Supported currencies, features, and system requirements are described in the applicable store listing and installed app version.
The live app state in the local SQLite database, an operating-system device backup, a deliberately created password-encrypted portable backup file, and the storefront action “Restore purchases” are separate paths. Purchase restoration restores only a Pro entitlement, never register data.
Kassento is not a point-of-sale system, cash book, or accounting program. It provides no exchange rates, cross-currency totals, or connection to a bank, POS, terminal, or payment system. Optional terminal reconciliation compares only two manually entered aggregate totals and collects no card, customer, or individual transaction data. It does not provide tax, fiscalisation, legal, or business advice and does not replace legally required records or checks.
3. Free version and Kassento Pro
The free version provides the stated core scope. Kassento Pro is an optional non-consumable one-time purchase. Apple App Store or Google Play displays the applicable price and currency before purchase.
Pro includes, in particular, multiple registers, versioned custom cash currencies and denominations, complete searchable history, profiles, PDF/CSV reports, local insights, target compositions and change-order planning, a local staff list, tip splits, an optional manual aggregate terminal reconciliation, at most one locally processed receipt photo per completion, a device-specific local closing reminder, app protection, and creation of password-encrypted portable Kassento backup files. The reminder depends on notification permission and reliable operating-system delivery; it contains no register data and is not included in portable backups. Selecting, validating, and restoring a backup file remains available without Pro so that your own data is not locked behind a purchase. Device and portable data backups do not contain a Pro purchase entitlement; the store checks that entitlement separately. Existing or restored custom currency definitions, registers, drafts, target compositions, staff lists, tip splits, and terminal reconciliations remain readable after Pro access is lost, and existing drafts remain finishable. Existing receipt photos remain viewable, shareable, and deletable.
Apple or Google processes payment; RevenueCat validates purchase status and entitlement. There is no subscription or trial. Restoration, family sharing, refunds, payment issues, and regional availability follow the rules and technical capabilities of the store used. Statutory warranty and refund rights remain unaffected.
4. Licence
You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use Kassento on devices associated with your storefront account under the store’s rules. Sale, sublicensing, circumvention of purchase or security mechanisms, and reverse engineering are prohibited except where a statutory right expressly permits them.
5. Responsibility for input and results
You are responsible for checking input, target compositions, names and tip shares, custom currency definitions, manually transferred POS/terminal aggregate totals, photos, and results before business, tax, or other use. Kassento calculates solely from your input and the formulas described in the app; change-order planning and tip splits are local planning or documentation, and terminal reconciliation does not confirm an external settlement. Exports and receipt photos are working aids, not accounting records. You are responsible for required retention, device security, lawful processing of recorded names, rights to photographed content, and lawful sharing of exported data.
Keep important portable backup files and their password separately and securely, and verify backups regularly. Lost passwords cannot be reset. A portable v3 restoration first shows a summary including photo count and size, then replaces current local Kassento data including receipt photos; backups are not merged. Older v2 files remain readable and contain no photos. Neither a device backup nor a portable backup file replaces records required by law or appropriate business archiving.
6. Availability and changes
The local core workflow can generally be used offline. Store offers, purchase, entitlement checks, or restoration may require a connection to Apple or Google and RevenueCat. Uninterrupted or error-free availability of external services is not guaranteed.
iCloud, Finder, Android, and device-transfer backups depend on the operating system, device state, user account, storage availability, and settings. Backup timing, retention, and successful restoration are controlled by the applicable platform and cannot be guaranteed. For portable backups, external storage and availability depend on the destination provider you select.
The app may be updated to improve security, compatibility, usability, or features. Material adverse changes to permanently purchased Pro features will not be made without an objective reason and compliance with mandatory consumer rights.
7. Warranty and liability
Statutory warranty rules apply. Liability for intent, gross negligence, personal injury, product liability, and other mandatory statutory liability is not limited.
For slight negligence, to the extent permitted by law, liability is limited to breaches of essential contractual duties and the typically foreseeable loss. Liability for data loss is limited, where legally permissible, to damage that would also have occurred despite reasonable device safeguards and verification. These limits do not apply where mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.
8. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Local data, including receipt photos and the diagnostic log, can first be deleted inside the app. This does not automatically remove purchase and transaction records held by the store or RevenueCat. The local deletion function does not selectively remove externally stored device backups or portable backup files; their retention follows your settings and the applicable service rules. Rights may be terminated for serious misuse within statutory and store rules.
9. Law and contact
Austrian law applies, excluding conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, this choice applies only insofar as it does not remove mandatory protection of the country of habitual residence. Statutory venues remain unaffected.
