Help and contact

1. Contact

Write to us at support@darkstone.app. In the app you find this under Settings › Help and legal › Feedback by email. Purrstep then opens your mail app; you send the message yourself. Your request goes directly to the developer. Please do not send routine content, passwords, full store receipts or payment details.

2. Frequently asked questions

What happens when I lock my phone?

Your routine keeps going; the time is calculated from fixed anchors. When a step’s time is up, you get a notice, as long as notifications are allowed and no Focus mode suppresses them. On Android it arrives on time if “Alarms & reminders” is allowed. With Pro, a Live Activity (iPhone) or a live notification (Android) shows the current step with a countdown.

Why didn’t a reminder arrive?

Check Settings › Device status to see whether notifications are allowed. Focus modes and Do Not Disturb can hold notifications back. Reminders are planned up to 7 days ahead and renewed every time you open the app. On Android, also check “Alarms & reminders”; some manufacturers stop background apps very strictly, in which case you allow Purrstep to run in the background in your battery settings. After a force stop, reminders return once you open the app again.

What happens after a restart?

A running routine counts as interrupted afterwards, because the time in between isn’t reliably known. You then decide: restart the step, count it as done, or end the run. A paused routine stays exactly paused. Reminders are restored.

What happens when the clocks change?

Schedules follow your device’s local time. If a time doesn’t exist on the day the clocks change (e.g. 02:30), the reminder comes at the next valid time. If a time occurs twice, Purrstep reminds you only once. After a time zone change, reminders are re-planned the next time you open the app.

How do purchase and restore work?

Pro is a one-time purchase without a subscription and applies to your devices with the same Apple or Google account. On a new device, tap “Restore purchases” (Settings › Pro or on the purchase screen). Apple and Google purchases are separate: a purchase on Apple does not unlock Android and vice versa. The 7-day trial needs no payment details and ends on its own. The price, refunds and payment problems are handled by the respective store.

How do I take my data to a new device?

Purrstep is part of your iPhone’s iCloud backup or of the Android backup of your Google account. You can also create an export file under Settings › Data and import it on the new device. With Pro, Purrstep makes a daily backup: on iPhone in the Files app under “On My iPhone › Purrstep”, on Android in the app folder and, if you wish, in a folder of your choice. An import transfers content but not a purchase; you restore that with “Restore purchases”.

What happens to my data?

Your routines and history stay on your device. There is no account, no advertising and no analytics. Purrstep connects to the internet only for purchases through the App Store or Google Play. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Can I turn the cats off?

Yes, under Settings › Appearance › Cats. Everything works the same, just without illustrations.

4. Deleting data

Purrstep has no account and no server of its own; your data is on your device and you can delete it there yourself: Settings › Data › Delete all data. The app asks twice. This deletes the database, drafts, scheduled notices, widget and shortcut data and the local Pro cache; on request also all backups. A store purchase is not revoked; Pro can be restored afterwards. Uninstalling the app also removes the app data on the device.

Out of the app’s reach are files you exported or shared, a backup folder you chose yourself, iCloud or Android backups already written, and email attachments; delete them at the respective location. For purchase data tied to the anonymous RevenueCat identifier, write to support@darkstone.app (see Retention and deletion).
